This DIY rainbow floral centerpiece will brighten your home and boost your mood this spring!

Spring is my favorite season and I wanted to create a floral arrangement that added more color and joy to my home. While I love fresh flowers, finding pastel ones on a budget can be tricky. Not to mention the added pollen (yay seasonal allergies!). Luckily my local Michael’s store is stocked with tons of pretty faux flower options, perfect for all your spring decorating needs. Since I love pastels and rainbows, I went with this ombre arrangement of tulips and capiz shell eggs. The addition of mini daisies and colored foam eggs (they sparkle!) add even more sweetness.

TOOLS

Serrated bread knife or hand saw

Scissors

Wire cutter

Hot glue gun

Instructions

1. CUT FLORAL FOAM

Using a serrated bread knife or hand saw, cut the foam block to fit the wooden crate. Leave extra space around the foam for the moss.

2. COVER FOAM BLOCK WITH MOSS

Using your foam block as a guide, cut a piece of moss to cover the top and sides (the bottom will not be visible). Remove the paper lining from the moss sheet and carefully wrap it over the foam block. Press firmly to make sure it’s attached properly. Cut out smaller rectangles for the ends of the foam blocks and apply.

Insert the moss block(s) into your wooden crate. You may need to trim off more foam if it’s too tight.

3. PREPARE FLOWERS AND EGGS

Using the wire cutter, trim off sections of tulips and daisies leaving 1 inch of the stem attached. Save the leftover wired stems for later.

Arrange the colored eggs on top of the moss.

4. ADD FLOWERS

Starting from one end, insert the tulip stems into the moss base surrounding the colored eggs. To create the ombre rainbow effect, gradually transition from pink to peach to yellow to mint to blue.

Once the tulips are in, add the mini daisies to fill in the gaps. Rearrange as necessary.

5. ADD MINI COLORED EGGS

Take the foam eggs and cut off the attached ribbon. Now gather your leftover wired stems. Insert one stem into the bottom of an egg to create a hole. Apply a dot of hot glue to the hole and reinsert the stem. Repeat with the other eggs. Now you have made your own egg picks! Insert the egg picks into the moss between the matching flowers and eggs.

Time to Decorate!

Place your rainbow floral centerpiece on a countertop or table. It’s the perfect addition to your spring home decor!
