Hello friends! I’m Blaire and I’m the artist and founder of Freshly Fuji. I am a fourth/fifth generation Japanese American and grew up in Hilo, Hawaii. For as long as I can remember, I have loved arts and crafts…and rainbows! As a kid I spent my free time sewing with my grandma, making jewelry, decorating my room, and dreaming of being an artist. Some things haven’t changed! 

I have a passion for helping children, so I went to pharmacy school and fulfilled my dream of becoming a pediatric pharmacist. Six years in, I was burnt out and developed several chronic illnesses. It became clear the stress of my job was taking a toll on my mental and physical health. With the support of my family, I made the difficult decision to leave to focus on my well-being.

Eventually I reconnected with my creative side and started sharing my craft projects on Instagram. I connected with other creative humans (on and off-line) who inspired me to dream a new dream. For once I felt hopeful that my story wasn’t over. From these humble beginnings, I started Freshly Fuji as a way to heal, express myself, and share my creative passions with others.

Today I live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my supportive husband, Richard and two adopted senior pups, Frankie and Penny. They are my sunshine and have helped me weather the darkest storms. Our favorite getaway spot is Carmel where dogs are people too! We live for beach days, boba, and a good picnic, but most of all, we love to laugh.

I’m still on my healing journey and feel grateful to have a creative life that fills me up. I hope my work brings a little light to your life and inspires YOU to create your own joy!
